A bill splitter you share with a link, not another signup

Most bill splitters want everyone to sign up first. Tabby skips that: open a tab, share the link, and your group can add bills straight away.

How a bill splitter link works

  1. 1

    Open a tab

Name it and pick a currency. Tabby gives you a private link.

  2. 2

    Send the link

Paste it into WhatsApp, iMessage or wherever your group talks.

  3. 3

    Everyone adds what they paid

Each person picks their name and adds bills as they go, in £.

  4. 4

    Settle up

Tabby works out the simplest way to pay each other back.

When a link is the right tool

  • One-off events like a birthday dinner, a festival, a group present
  • Groups that won't all sign up for an app
  • Short trips where you just need a tally at the end
  • When you want to start now, not after everyone has made an account

When it isn't: if you need uneven splits, receipt scanning or reminders for monthly household bills, a full app like Splitwise may suit you better.

What you can split

  • Meals out and rounds at the pub
  • Airbnbs, hotels and campsites
  • Fuel, trains, taxis and parking
  • Groceries and the big shop
  • Tickets and activities
  • Group presents and kitties

A link vs a spreadsheet

A shared spreadsheet works fine until someone breaks a formula on their phone.

Tabby link Spreadsheet
Setting up Name a tab, share the link Build the columns and formulas
Adding a bill on your phone A few taps Fiddly on a small screen
Who owes who Worked out for you Down to your formulas
Bills for part of the group Pick who each bill is for More formulas
Accounts None needed Usually a Google or Microsoft account to edit

Keep the link private

Your tab's link is the key to it. Anyone who has it can open the tab, add or change expenses and see what's been spent. There are no passwords. Treat it like a secret: share it with your group, not on social media or anywhere public. Tab pages are hidden from search engines.

Questions

Do my friends need to sign up? +

No. They open the link, pick their name and they're in.

Is it really free? +

Yes. No paid plan, no ads, no account.

Can I split a bill unevenly? +

Bills are split equally between the people you choose. If one person had more, add their extra as a separate expense just for them.

Does it use pounds? +

Yes. Choose GBP when you open a tab. Euros and dollars are available too.

What if the link gets shared by mistake? +

Anyone with the link can see and change the tab, so keep it to your group. If it ends up somewhere it shouldn't, delete the tab from its settings and start a new one.

Got a trip coming up?

Open a tab in seconds, share the link and you're done. It's free, with no app and no signup.
