Split trip expenses without the app. Just share a private link
Someone books the Airbnb, someone else gets the train tickets, and by day three nobody knows who's paid for what. Tabby keeps it all in one shared tab that opens from a link.
Trip spending gets messy fast
- The big costs land on one card, usually whoever booked the accommodation.
- The small ones pile up: rounds, snacks, a taxi back at 2am.
- Not everyone does every activity, so an even split isn't always fair.
- By the time you're home, the group chat is full of "I'll send it later".
What to track
Accommodation
The Airbnb, hotel or campsite. Usually the biggest cost, and paid up front by one person.
Travel
Trains, flights, fuel, parking and taxis. Add them as they happen.
Food and drink
The big shop, restaurant bills and rounds. Split between everyone or just whoever was there.
Activities
Tickets, tours, boat hire, lift passes, or anything only some of you did.
Why a link beats another trip app
Nothing to install
It opens in the browser on any phone, so nobody's waiting on an app store download with one bar of signal.
Nothing to sign up for
Share the link and people are in. No "I'll make an account later".
Made for one trip
No long-running groups to manage. Make a tab for this trip, settle up and you're done.
Everyone sees the same tab
Expenses show up live for the whole group.
How it works on the road
-
1
Before you go
Create a tab, name it after the trip and choose £. Paste the link in the group chat.
-
2
When someone pays
They open the link and add it in a few taps: what it was, how much, and who it's for.
-
3
Along the way
Anyone can check the tab to see what's been spent and where they stand.
-
4
When you're home
Tabby shows who owes who. Send a bank transfer, then mark it settled.
Made for these trips
A weekend away
Four of you, a cottage in the Lakes, a big shop and a pub dinner. Three expenses and you're done.
A week's holiday
Villa, flights, car hire and a week of dinners. A running total means the final tally isn't a shock.
A mixed group
Couples, friends of friends, someone who only came for two nights. Split each expense between just the people it was for.
Questions
Does everyone on the trip need the app? +
There isn't one. Tabby runs in the browser, so anyone with the link can open it on their phone.
Can I split some costs between only part of the group? +
Yes. When you add an expense, choose specific people instead of everyone.
What if someone joins the trip late? +
Expenses split between everyone include new joiners automatically. Expenses split between specific people stay as they are.
We're going abroad. Can we still use pounds? +
Yes. Each tab uses one currency, so if you'd rather settle in £, add expenses in pounds. You can also open a tab in euros or dollars.
Is it free? +
Yes. No signup and no ads either.
